The IRS almost never moves this rate in the middle of a year, and in 2026 it did. Miles driven January 1 through June 30 go at 72.5¢. Miles driven July 1 onward go at 76¢. The federal government publishes a lodging and meal ceiling for every county in the country, and most firms benchmark their own policy against it. For most of the U.S. right now it's $110 a night for the room plus $68 a day for meals. Big metros run higher and change by month. Look up your exact city on the GSA per diem tool before you argue with anyone about an expense report.
Corporate rates and loyalty points aren't mutually exclusive, and this is the single most common thing people leave on the table. Whoever books it, the nights belong to whoever slept in the room — so get your membership number on the reservation. Forty nights a year is real status, and status is what gets you a late checkout when a job runs long.
